today i went to a house workshop taught by Ja Ja of Phunk Phenomenon and a bboy workshop taught by Instant Noodles.

Long story short, house is fucking hard and tiring…i feel like my whole impression of house just got flipped.  it’s super fun though and Ja Ja said some really deep things about dance…unfortunately i kind of forgot them, but they were something along the lines of like…you gotta learn how to dance because you wanna dance, not because you want to do the moves or something.  He mentioned like a lot of celebrities trying to dance but not really knowing how bc they didn’t start from the foundation up, they just tried to learn the moves or something…can’t quite remember but it was deep and i had a really good time.

the Instant Noodles workshop was aight in terms of learning…I could already do most of what they asked so I guess the real learning experience was in the cyphers.  I mustered up my courage and decided to call out Geo, which resulted in a two round battle or so where I’m pretty sure I lost.  My first set was relatively comparable I guess, but I totally ran out of steam on the second…gotta work on that.  It was seriously an awesome experience being able to cypher with and battle against bboys who I’ve kinda been looking up to/been inspired by.  Lately I’ve been in kind of a funk (not the good funk) with dancing, but today totally just reinspired me to go harder and push past my limits.

The instant noodles as people are pretty chill and fun, though.  I talked a bit to Charles for a while before the house workshop and he was just a chill, down-to-earth guy.

right now my body’s totally destroyed…but i feel that fire again and i’m hungrier than ever…back to training!
